Imagine a student of mine who was in recovery.

10 years sober. 

They learned, through trial and error, and thousands of dollars spent, how to work through the root cause of their pattern. They read all the books. They had all the cheat sheets. They knew what types of deep work were, and were not, worth it.

They came from a long line of addicts and by their own will, had broken free. 

When they first started their EFT Practice, they naturally felt called to serve other addicts. They wanted to shout from the rooftops: I know how to help you! 

They synthesized their resources, best practices, and steps into a 7 part healing journey. They felt motivated, and dare they say, “called.”

Despite their enthusiasm, the response was weak. They were convincing people to work with them (and at a discount). The clients that did book didn’t followup on their homework and didn’t seem to notice that the positive shifts were due to the sessions.

My student lost steam. 

They questioned if they were good enough as a practitioner.

She spiraled with ideas of other “ideal clients,” but all seemed to fall flat. 

Here’s the truth: Just because you healed from it, doesn’t mean you have to help others heal from it.

In an intro call, we discovered that this client’s Human Design contains a key called Pattern Breaker and Darkness Whisperer.

Human Design is an extensive personality compass based on your date of birth that can reveal your unique life message and brand.

Her main message is to break patterns (i.e. family legacies, patterns of addiction, inherited trauma) and to be comfortable facing trauma and the darkest sides of the psyche.

Guess what? She had already developed a 7-step process to break addiction. Two of the steps were befriending their shadow and dealing with Big T Trauma with playfulness. 

Meanwhile, while she was trying to prove the power of these techniques to her “niche,” she was constantly being approached by entrepreneurs who wanted help quitting their part-time jobs.

Did she have to choose one niche?

No. After a powerful class, she discovered that her 7-step Addiction Process could help entrepreneurs “get sober” from addictions to procrastination and low self-worth (her human design message).

On top of breaking mental and emotional patterns, she included helping clients with the logistical steps of setting up their business in her session package (her realm of influence). 

As she worked through each week of content creation, she was able to confidently communicate the value of her holistic package to entrepreneurs who needed every layer of her expertise.

Her healing message stood out from the rest because she could communicate that the process she used to help clients break free from success blocks, was the same process that helped her get and STAY sober (her hero’s journey).

She used the trauma techniques that helped her forgive her past, to help them forgive their past business mistakes. The techniques that helped her break a family legacy of addiction, helped her clients break family legacies of unfulfilled dreams.
