🔮 Fear or Intuition? 3 Clues That Tell You Instantly

Shall we begin with a question I’ve been asked countless times - starting back in LA when I did table-work with actors and creatives out of my 500-square-foot apartment, all the way to 15 years later, when a doctor at an advanced workshop would raise their hand to ask the same question:

Jackie, Please Help: “How do I know if this is fear or intuition?”

Fear or intuition

Catastrophizing or intuition

PTSD or intuition

Hypochondria or intuition

Mom anxiety or mother’s intuition

Here are three clues I use to guide me back to sanity.

I hope they help you as much as they help me:

Clue 1:

Fear contracts you.

Intuition expands you.

Clue 2:

Fear makes you feel weaker. 

It says, “I can’t handle this.  This is too big for me.”

Fear tells you to call the troops.

To self-protect.

To defend yourself.

To shut down.

To do what is necessary to feel safe.

Intuition makes you feel stronger. 

“I can handle this. This calls me to be a bigger person.”

Clue 3:

Fear calls you into your past.

Intuition calls you into your future.

Fear is a voice from the past telling you that what happened back then will surely repeat itself.

Fear is the past pretending to be your future.

  • Fear generalizes and says: “If I was betrayed once, I will be betrayed again. 

  • If the other shoe dropped back then, it will drop again.

  • If the health crisis had escalated back then, it would surely escalate now.

Intuition is a voice from the future 

telling you to prepare yourself, expand yourself, and embody a new version of yourself now.

  • Prepare yourself for deeper trust.

  • Prepare yourself for expanded grace.

  • Prepare yourself for a new reality that requires you to be bigger, bolder, and less codependent. 

Intuition is the future, giving you a head start:

To strengthen the faith.

Build the muscle.

Breathe. 

Since its hard to hear the truth when you’re dysregulated, use the EFT meridian points to tap and breathe as you tap & ask these questions:

  • Is this hunch expanding me into a bigger version of myself?

  • Or shrinking me into a former version of myself?

  • If you feel yourself contract, shrink, or weaken, that is fear speaking. 

  • If you feel yourself expand, enlighten, or embody a bolder version of you, that is intuition speaking. 

If your hunch is fear speaking, remember to tap and ask, “How old is the ‘I’ in ‘I am afraid that…”

This is where fear turns into healing.

If the hunch is intuition speaking, tap and ask, “What does my future self want me to know, remember, or embody?”

This is when intuition turns into timeline hopping.

Thank your past self.

Thank your future self.

Thank your current self for asking the brave questions - instead of bypassing your emotions - as you create a freer and more fulfilling life.
