How to Make a Custom Tapping Script to Use, Share, or Sell
In 2022 I got an email that I almost trashed as spam.
“We have an opportunity for you to be the EFT expert at our soon to launch wellness company! Our mission is to be the Peleton of mental health where members join classes live or on demand. We will have yoga, breathwork, sound healing and EFT tapping!
We’d love for you to be our EFT teacher!
Instead of deleting it, I called the CEO’s number.
Two years later I’m still teaching EFT classes for them and their 500k members.
Their classes stretch me in how different they are than what I typically teach.
Their members are from large corporations that want to offer mental health benefits to their staff.
I only have 20 minutes per class.
I get the topic a few weeks in advance.
When I go live, I can’t see any faces so I have to trust that hundreds of members are tapping along and shifting for the better.
Lights, camera, action: A lot could go emotionally wrong.
The challenge: I have no way of knowing if my words are resonating or if anyone is feeling better by the end.
Trust me: I was nervous before my first live class.
How do I come up with a meaningful and effective “script”?
How do you know what to say?
I was afraid of repeating what I’ve seen in many ineffective catch-bait scripts or YouTube videos.
3 Tapping Turnoffs I wanted to avoid:
Avoid Turnoff 1: Putting words in people’s mouths.
Many scripts assume the audience’s feelings. They use sweeping generalizations that only resonate with a few of the audience members. I knew I wanted to use scripts that landed but at the same time held space for everyone’s unique emotional experience.
The solution, which I’ll teach in my upcoming live training, is contemplative tapping: A style I accidentally developed to help tappers look inward and get curious about their inner experience. It empowers them to be their own healer and guide vs relying on me to put words in their mouth.
Avoid Turnoff 2: Using jargon that sounds nothing like the way we speak.
I deeply and completely accept myself is a phrase tappers say, but have you ever heard someone say that in real life? I don’t want the corporate employees tuning into my class to robotically repeat words that don’t mean anything to them. The point of tapping is to voice the truth, not to mimic clunky words from an “expert.”
The remedy is to ease into compassion with more conversational language. In my EFT Level 1&2 Training, we practice more grounded forms of self-acceptance and I lean on this skill when recording tapping meditations.
Avoid Turnoff 3: Rushing positive affirmations too fast and too soon.
Tapping scripts that BEGIN with grandiose positives like, ‘I am abundant,’ or ‘Health and wealth flow through me’ are cringe. They leave no space to feel the real feelings making it hard to be positive in the first place. If you buy a tapping meditation titled “money abundance” it’s because you feel some money blocks. It’s important to first hold space for where you’re blocked before tapping into where you want to be.
My formula waits until the moment when the affirmations will land... and weaves in a backup plan for those who aren’t feeling so positive yet. You can embody the health wealth and abundance you crave, but realistically and immediately. It comes from somatic techniques I teach my advanced students that let you ease into an expansive new reality and end on a high note.
Want to know what the first topic was that I had to record for my faceless crowd? Work stress.
It’s a broad topic and the listeners ranged from teachers to cleaning staff to corporate CEOs.
What words would resonate with such a range of people?
How would I help them feel their feelings when I had no way of knowing what stressed them out?
When and how would I switch to the positive?
I needed a formula.
Instead of spiraling, I thought about how I lead myself when I tap.
I realize that the way I tap follows a 3 part structure. I have written extensively about these 3 phases inside a manuscript I plan to self-publish.
The formula doesn’t put words in your mouth, never uses jargon that doesn’t make sense to an untrained tapper, and leaves space to feel your feelings instead of thinking your feelings.
No matter what I want to tap on, I could plug it into this three-part formula that moves from what you don’t want to what you do want.
From work anxiety to workflow.
From perfectionism to peace.
From pain to relief.
With a plan, I plugged work stress into my formula and walah, I felt restored confidence that every corporate listener would get something out of the EFT meditation, without cringing.
No matter what topic this new gig gave me…
No matter what resource I wanted to record for a new client…
The formula worked.
I’m excited to teach the formula in a bonus training for anyone enrolled early in this year’s Practitioner Cohort!
I already added the Saturday, Sept 28th Bonus Training times and Zoom links in your student portal
You know me, I want to make this relevant: What do you want to tap on with others? Tell me live or via email (so I can hook you up for the recording).
If you want to feel confident making custom tapping resources you can use, share, or sell for years to come, enroll in the 2024 Practitioner Certification (Level 1/2/3) before September 28th!
Note: We are already at 50% capacity. Enrollment will close when cap is reached.
