What is Mindfulness Meditation and How Does it Ease Anxiousness?
Mindfulness is observing the present moment.
Meditation means to train the mind.
Mindfulness Meditation is the practice of training the mind to observe the present moment.
In this week's meditation (below), I focus on four tiers of mindfulness.
1. Observing the Breathe
2. Observing the Body
3. Observing the Thoughts
4. Observing the Emotions
How Does Mindfulness Ease Anxious Energy?
The more you practice mindfulness, the more you'll notice how often you’re not in the present moment. Mindfulness is difficult, brave even, because mindfulness requires that we trust that...
- being right here and now is the safest place you can be.
- the next moment will be fine without your prepping and anticipation.
- being 100 percent engaged with the present helps you show up most effectively in the future.
This Week's Mindfulness Challenge: Practice catching yourself when you travel anywhere except for the present moment. Notice how often you daydream about the future, ruminate about the past, or plan your next moment. Take a breathe and become mindful of one of the four tiers of mindfulness: your breathing, body, thoughts, or emotions.
Sunday night I walked my talk because I wrote this poem and blog within three minutes after leaving a beautiful restorative yoga class. Quieting my mind for that 75 minutes created the clarity my brain needed to be creative and accomplished.
Self-care is not a waste of time. It makes your use of time more strategic.
